What people say about St Nectans

My Mum has been living at St Nectans since October 2024 and I am genuinely so impressed, relieved and reassured by the care and dedication of everyone there for how well they look after my Mum. I was worried and reluctant for my Mum to go into a care home, however for her safety and wellbeing as her dementia worsened and she had a very bad fall, the difficult decision had to be made. She was in hospital for 3 months, then an interim care home for 5 months then St Nectans as her new home the last 7 months. Since being at St Nectans she has regained mobility to walk (with a walker and a carer always beside her) which she wasn’t able to do prior to St Nectans and I was told she would permanently need a wheelchair. She eats well, looks well, participates as much as she would like in activities and social time and isn’t pressured if she chooses not to. Her natural and pre-dementia personality type is acknowledged and respected. I’m fully informed of medical appointments and updates. Good food, activities, professional & knowledgeable staff who do really care for all residents. I personally wanted to avoid a larger care home, I like the size as it’s small enough for staff to know the residents and I know that works well for my Mum. Lovely spacious room, homely feel as opposed to a mini-hospital, always clean and hygienic. I’d definitely recommend St Nectans even if you have concerns about care homes as my Mum has improved even with advancing dementia here and I’m so pleased to have them looking after my Mum who means the world to me.

Lovely home with very caring staff! Activities program that keeps the residents occupied and entertained. The private rooms are large and spacious, beautifully decorated and furnished, some have sea views. Definitely worth a viewing if you need a loving relative cared for.

We are so grateful to all the staff especially the manager at St Nectans to help us out for emergency placement for my friend. My friend is now in safe and professional care 24/7 and that is a source of huge relief and comfort to his wife who is also elderly after a very difficult time. My friend’s health and well-being have greatly improved since he arrived at St Nectans.Every carer I have met at the home is extremely kind and friendly. The facilities are very clean and there are wonderful communal areas for all residents and their visitors to have space to relax and have privacy. The bedroom is lovely and the en-suite bathroom is perfect. I highly recommend St Nectans.
