My grandfather was resident here for 10 months. He was well cared for, respected and was happy here. The staff knew him.by name and were kind and attentive. There is good staff to client ratios and his room was clean. The food is of a good standard and there are organised activities, celebrations and parties for staff. My grandfather became ill with a chest infection and became sick very quickly. In the three days before he passed away the staff were immensely kind and considerate to me and him. I stayed 24 hours a day and was offered a shower, a bed and food. The staff came every 2 hours to turn him, do oral care and check his pads. They were sympathetic and genuine when we realised that he was close to dying. I genuinely felt that he was considered part of the family. Members of staff were sad and shes a tear when they said goodbye to him. I cannot rate Dulcie, Nicky, Karl, Minnie and the other fabulous staff highly enough.

In the time my husband was here he was always treated with respect while enjoying fun banter with the staff. All the carers were very professional but most importantly kind and caring. The food was very good and always on time. When it was time for my husband to move to a permanent nursing home it was done very efficiently with very little for me to do. Lovely care home with amazing staff.

How do we assess a care home? Unfortunately it is as or after we watch a parent go through their last days. My mom has been at Red Hill since august 2016, and I go every day that I can. Before that, she had one night in an awful home in Solihull, and then 18 months in a mediocre place with problems. So having experienced those two first, and having visited all the dementia suitable places in Worcester, my brothers and I chose Red Hill, and I have been happy with the choice, every day for the past 18 months. I hope I can go again for at least another 18 months because that will mean extra time with mom. I can't speak for all the wards, but Topaz is well run, has a good team, some decent people have moved on but good selections are made it seems in the replacing, from my interaction with them, and the manager responds promptly to any comments made. The latest cqc (feb 2018) rates it good. I think it is that at least, probably nearer excellent for me.
