Barchester Healthcare Hunters Care Home

I was placed at Hunters Care Centre as a 2nd year student nurse. The team are wonderful, I have had incredible support from absolutely everybody. All the team are so welcoming and friendly, they really put me at ease and have given me a really valuable learning experience. I have observed and been fortunate to be involved in the excellent care of the residents who seem very happy to be part of the Barchester family. I will be sad to move to the next placement!

I had a 10-week placement as a nursing student at Hunters Care Centre. It was a great experience. The staff were very caring and supportive of each other, the residents, and their families. The home has such a welcoming atmosphere and great activities to keep the residents engaged. The whole team in the nursing home works together to give the best for the residents. I would recommend this home, especially Memory Lane, a well-set-up unit for people with dementia.

The management at Hunters Care Centre work towards creating a caring, stimulating environment for the residents. All the staff are industrious, kind and cheerful whether the focus of their work is physical care, maintenance of the building, cleaning, reception or administration, entertainment or catering. The needs of the residents are closely monitored and assessed. For the families of those who are unable to assimilate or articulate their thoughts due to impaired mental capacity for a variety of reasons, can rest assured that the staff who look after these clients make every effort to provide a homely, tranquil environment and treat everyone with dignity with emphasis on excellent standards of hygiene and grooming, clothes that co-ordinate, mental stimulation and activities. I think standards are high and generally the aim is for families to feel confident in the quality of care when they have to leave their relatives in the charge of others.

Just finished my nursing placement at Hunters care centre. All the staff are very kind and one can tell the passion they have for the work they do. From the nurses, carers, maintenance, management, the chefs, they all do such a great job that it was very inspiring being there as a student nurse. I appreciate that everyone was very helpful and supportive of my learning. I have developed and improved a lot of skills and am grateful especially to the nurses for their guidance and encouragement. Susie Vaughan - The Musical Memory Works I very much look forward to my visits to Hunters, where I give music, singing and percussion workshops for my project The Musical Memory Works. It is a very friendly, relaxed home, with a lovely atmosphere in a beautiful setting. Ben and Ali, who help me with the workshops, are unfailingly professional, supportive and caring, with a genuine ability to engage with the residents. Consequently, the room is always full of fun and laughter! It’s wonderful to see the residents playing everything so brilliantly and trying out so many different musical instruments and skills, and they are always so welcoming. A very special place!
