Hazelwood Care Home

We cannot praise Hazelwood enough. As soon as you get there, the door is opened quickly with no waiting around, there is coffee and cake for visitors waiting and friendly staff to guide you. There’s no absence of staff as in other care homes where they leave you waiting until they have the time to let you in. Once inside, there is a fresh smell to the home and all the staff were friendly, caring and respectful. We were offered tea on numerous occasions and even had sandwiches made for lunch. There was a multitude of things going on. It seems they really have an activity programme where the activities actually take place from local volunteers. Everything is compact and well thought out with a lovely view of the hills in front and a looked after garden with fish pond for a bit of fresh air. When our mother passed away there, we all felt we were part of a family that grieved one of their own. The nurse on duty Premi was so efficient, kept giving us information and really put us first. There was nothing she wouldn’t have done, even bringing us tea throughout the night. This care home, facilities, managers and staff all get our highest recommendations. Thank you to everyone.

My mum has been in Hazelwood since Dec 2024 and the home and all the staff are absolutely amazing not only to my mum but also to us, they are so kind and caring as though mum was one of their own relatives. The home put on so many activities from making things to discussing topics, they often have musicians and other external people in too. There is so much thought put into making the lives of the residents happy and fulfilled. We often join in with activities and can truly say they are enjoyable and come away feeling uplifted because we can see the difference it makes to the residents. The difference Hazelwood has made to mums life is incredible. It was a very difficult and emotional decision for us to make for mum to go into a home but all the incredible staff have helped make any worries that we did have fade away. We would like to thank everybody at Hazelwood for everything they do, this care home is truly amazing.

Mum has been at Hazelwood since March 2023 despite her deteriorating condition with dementia the level of care received at Hazelwood is a credit to all staff that have helped mum settle in to a very friendly home. The staff are always cheerful they build relationships with family members as well as residents making it a pleasure to visit. The daily range of stimulating activities are so important and because the team understand residents needs they are well catered for. Food is varied and good quality there is a private dining room should families wish to spend quality time with loved ones on special occasions. Hazelwood have a good care plan with regular visits by doctors, hairdresser and chiropodist, management encourage input from family and are always looking for ways to improve their service. Mum benefits greatly from all the attention, I know she is getting the best possible care, I would definitely recommend Hazelwood.
