Lottie Insights

Preface & Methodology

The team and I are incredibly proud to launch Lottie's first ever insights report! We hope the findings are welcomed by the care sector and help providers (& other industry stakeholders) better understand the modern care seeker in 2024. As part of producing this research paper, Lottie surveyed 1,000 care seekers who have searched for care in the UK over the past two years. This data, combined with Lottie's proprietary marketplace data, unveiled powerful insights into the state of care in the UK and what the search process is like for families in 2024. I hope you enjoy reading Lottie's findings! In the meantime - please enjoy a sneak peak into some of report's insights below...

The Long Road to Finding Care

It takes care seekers 4.8 weeks on average to find a care home, 2 weeks longer than it took in 2021! Many care seekers were surprised by this lengthy process, and wished they had started the search sooner.

"Few good decisions are made in a rush, we’d always encourage families and retirees to start thinking about what the perfect care solution looks like for them, sooner rather than later. As a care provider, are you doing everything you can to make this process as fast and smooth as possible for care seekers?"

The Rise of the Silver Surfer

Search engines and social media reign supreme as the most influential factors in the care search. Despite this booming digital era, care seekers still value gardens and natural spaces more than any other facility!

"Given how central the internet and social media have become to the care search, having a strong online presence on marketplaces, comparison websites and social media platforms is fundamental! Also, make sure your website is optimised for mobile devices, and accessible, to make the search more smoother for care seekers."

Clear Costs, Confident Choices

Care seekers are increasingly having to use their savings to afford care due to rising care costs and insufficient government funding. When it comes to the price of care, transparency is key!

"Navigating care is confusing and expensive, with £3.5billion worth of benefits going unclaimed each year, so it’s important to make sure care seekers are aware of and accessing all the support they are entitled to."
