staff are AMAZING, they work so hard and have been amazing to my father, its such a shame how drastically the place has gotten so bad. I would say AVOID at all costs. 1 carer looking after 14 patients, broken lift for days and cheap food. they seem oblivious to complaints, fingers crossed they can turn it back to how it used to be.

I was looking for a job and called the care home. the reception was so good and polite they even gave me their email address and told me that they are looking for staff.in addition they told me to send them my cv, and personal statements. So far so good! This was on Wednesday 2 o’clock Phoned the care home again after two days to double check their email address because I was having problem to send them my cv and personal statement, It seems not to be found. But the person that has answered my call didn’t talk to me properly. It was unprofessional and rude! First she told me to call them back after two days and then she told me they don’t have email address! The worst part is the person didn’t even let me finish my question!! she cut me off when I was asking her name!! And this was today (Friday) 18/06/21 Time 4: 26

Though it is only the first three weeks, I like to thank Buchanan Court staff for supporting my family and I during the most difficult time in deciding to place our mother in care. All the staff have been very helpful in keeping us up to date in how mum has settled and the care she is receiving; especially when internal visits are not happening.

The carers are hard working and the home is clean and well looked after, however over the past few months Buchanon has gone drastically down hill, with residents having no access to the internet for nearly 5 months and issues so bad with the quality of food that a lot of residents and families have to order their own food in. Serious lack of staffing (although the ones working are so amazing and look after my friend so well ) although I appreciate this hasn't been helped with COVID which is out of their control. Management pay no attention to the problems. A great shame as it used to be a great place, hopefully it will improve.

My mum was in Buchanan court for six weeks. During this time I believe the carers worked very hard to settle mum and I can honestly say that although we never got to see mum inside the home or her room due to COVID, the care staff appeared to be very good with mum and mum appeared happy for the last few weeks. If it wasn’t for one very special staff member, I really would have doubted our decision to place our lovely mum in this home and reconsidered. We searched tirelessly visiting many care homes before deciding on Buchanan. We liked what we saw, the surroundings, the interaction of staff members with residents, the atmosphere and then we met the manager who we believed to be very hands on and involved which was our deciding factor. How wrong we were. We had garden visits and window visits but was never acknowledged by the management when there as they always seem more interested in been in the smoking area. My mum passed away on the 12th October after having an ‘unsupervised fall’ at the home resulting in back to back seizures and never recovering. From the time we emailed the customer relations manager at Buchanan to say our mum was on End of Life at the hospital and to this day...we have never heard from Simon but did receive a very cold reply from Her totally disregarding my mums condition but to say she will inform the contract dept. We had one phone call from a team leader asking for mums cause of death but only because she needed to complete paperwork. We then collected our mums belongings to which we also received other residents belongings and not all of our mothers. The communication from the day my mum went into this home was extremely poor. To place your loved one in a care home is the most difficult decision I have ever had to make along with then choosing a place you are trusting to look after your precious mother and then you are faced with the worst communication, dis organised management and lack of empathy and compassion from people who treat your loved one as a business transaction. The communication is so poor that after my mother had passed I still received an invoice for the following month as Buchanan had failed to tell the accounts dept mum had passed instead insinuating mum had left the care home. Again, but only due to the lovely care staff on Elton Suite, I hope by placing mum in Buchanan, we didn’t let her down in her last months of life.
