My grandmother, first was taken to kingfisher, but as her needs changed she moved to spillers. Our family are very grateful for all the excellent care, support and comfort given by a very dedicated team. This care facility is very well run, the staff are happy and it has a lovely atmosphere. A big thank you to everyone at kingfisher and spillers for the support you have given our family, the care and kindness given to my grandmother during her stay.

Kingfisher House is beautiful setting for any family members to come stay, we cater for residential, nursing, dementia, respite, palliative and end of life care. I am the new Home Adminstrator at Kingfisher House and I have only felt love since joining the team. The Care and Ancillary team go above their duty of care, expect a comfortable, clean and friendly environment on all of our floors. Everyone is welcome to come and see for yourselves.

My poor mum is in this "care" home right now. Social Services have heard my concerns about this place and some members of staff but stopped me moving her. Mum has been there for three years. She has dementia and has now been moved upstairs into Spiller Up as her health has deteriorated - she is bedridden and now has one leg (or knee) totally locked. Some staff here are lovely, they show compassion, empathy and kindness (in front of me anyway!). Some however, in my experience do not. Before my mum was bedridden she has been allowed to fall off the seat in the shower, she has had an unexplained black eye, the staff are very "shouty", I think because English is not the first language of most they appear very abrubt and mum struggles to understand them; mum says "they keep shouting at me". Other residents have emptied mums room, we have lost precious photos, cushions, duvet cover, pillowcase, a toothbrush (no body told me so mum didn't have her teeth cleared for three days!) glasses to name a few. Mum is now on expected death, so obviously she feels pretty unwell. Some staff just don't seem to have that carer bit about them. Mum had a hair in her eye, her eye was all gunky, no one noticed, I found the hair, removed it but how many days had she been so uncomfortable with something in her eye!? Had she not had her face washed? Who knows. She was in agony one evening and was offered paracetamol. Mum is not the type of person to make a fuss, she was screaming, begging me for pain relief. After quite an argument the Nurse finally gave her morphine. But if I hadn't of been there would she have got that pain relief? Who knows? The rooms are shabby, one light out of four worked in mums room so there was no light in the bathroom. So why did staff on the nightshift not leave a note for the Maintenace man to mend the lights? I had to mention it. The beaker mum was receiving drink from was black inside with mould recently. I had to make a fuss again and Mable the Manager said she needed people like me to make a fuss so she knows what's going on! I just feel that unless I go over to "keep an eye on her" as I am now her voice she will just not get cared for as she should do, but its hard as I work as only get evenings and weekends to visit. But, they have kept my mum alive and she was expected to pass away at Christmas so they must be doing something right. And whatever I have complained about has been rectified quickly (a member of staff who shouted at mum when she was gravely ill was moved to a different building instantly). I really feel for the residents with no relatives to stick up for them. I feel guilty every time I leave her there. Xx

There are some lovely staff members. The manager hasn't got a clue she couldn't organise a chimps tea party!! To many problems to list everything that went on there. Don't put your loved one in there find some where they will be looked after. Food was dreadful always cold and looked as if it had been laying around for weeks.
